The Talal Foundation and the Saudi Human Rights Commission (HRC) have signed a memorandum to bolster women’s and children’s rights. This collaboration focuses on protecting legal rights, conducting studies on maternal and childcare needs, and launching community initiatives. The partnership also aims to support victims of violence and family breakdowns across the Kingdom, in coordination with nonprofit organizations.
Strengthening Legal Protections for Women and Children
Prince Abdulaziz bin Talal, secretary-general of the Talal Endowment, welcomed the agreement. He expressed gratitude to King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for their commitment to human rights. He praised their dedication to strengthening the legal framework that protects women and children.
“At Talal Foundation, we are committed to advancing human rights,” Prince Abdulaziz said. He emphasized the foundation’s goal to collaborate with relevant organizations to achieve these objectives. The nonprofit sector plays a crucial role in promoting legal awareness and ensuring a decent life for everyone, he added.
Progress in Legal Reforms and Women’s Empowerment
Prince Abdulaziz highlighted the significant progress in legal reforms, especially in women’s empowerment, children’s rights, and combating human trafficking. He also expressed appreciation for the efforts of Hala Al-Tuwaijri, president of the Saudi HRC, and the commission’s staff for their dedication to strengthening collaboration with the nonprofit sector.
“I commend the commission’s efforts and its commitment to upholding human dignity and rights,” he noted. He added that the commission’s strong presence in international forums reflects its true dedication.
Vision 2030 and Community-Driven Initiatives
The agreement aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, focusing on enhancing maternal and childcare services. It also aims to support victims of violence and address family disintegration through community-driven initiatives. Prince Abdulaziz expressed hope for the continued success of Talal Endowment as a supportive partner in serving Saudi society.
