SDAIA to Launch First National Data Index
The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) and the National Transformation Program are set to launch Saudi Arabia’s first national data index, along with an upgraded version of the open data platform, and a data governance platform.
This initiative, a first in the Kingdom, aims to fulfill the objectives of the National Transformation Program.
The program is a key component of Saudi Vision 2030. It also focuses on enhancing transparency and creating a data-driven national economy.
The Launch Event
The launch will take place at the Saudi Data Forum, organized by SDAIA and the National Transformation Program.
This event, scheduled for next Monday in Riyadh, will host senior data officials from government bodies, as well as major local and international companies and institutions.
Significance of Open Data
Open data holds substantial international importance. Thus, it has been the catalyst for the emergence of various companies and products across both public and private sectors.
Financially, the European Commission, through its Open Data Strategy, estimates the annual economic value of open data to be around 40 billion euros across the European Union.
Forum Highlights
The forum will feature 4 panel discussions with 13 local and international data specialists. These sessions aim to shed light on the significance of open data. It will further discuss the latest trends and approaches to handling it.
