Saudi Arabia’s women participation rate in the labor force has increased in the third quarter of 2024, according to the data of the Labor Market Bulletin released by the Saudi General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT).
The data showed an increase in Saudi female participation rate by 0.8% compared to the second quarter, to record 36.2%. Furthermore, the employment-to-population ratio of Saudi females rose by 0.5% to reach 31.3%.
Participation in the labor force for women aged 15-24 reached 18% in Q3 2024, recording a 1% growth. Meanwhile, the employment-to-population ratio among this age group increased by 0.6%, reaching 13.6%.
On the other hand, the participation rate of Saudi men jumped to 66.9%, recording a 0.6% growth. Meanwhile, the employment-to-population ratio reached 63.7%. Moreover, the participation rate of young Saudi men reached 34.6%, an increase by 1.1%.
The GASTAT data also revealed that the unemployment rate among Saudis dropped in Q3 2024 to record 7.8%, marking a decline by 1% compared to the same period last year. However, this accounted for a 0.7% increase compared to Q2 2024.
Furthermore, data showed that labor force participation among Saudis and non-Saudis reached 66.6% during the third quarter of the year, growing 0.4% over Q2 2024. The labor force participation for Saudi nationals grew by 0.7% during Q3 2024, reaching 51.5%. Also, the employment-to-population ratio among Saudis climbed 0.2% to reach 47.4%, recording an annual growth of 1.1%.
Among the prime working-age group (25-54 years), the labor force participation rate for Saudi men and women increased by 0.7% to reach 69.4%. Moreover, the employment-to-population ratio rose by 0.3%, reaching 64.8%, according to GASTAT figures.
