The Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, took part in the Outreach Session of the second G7 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting on Monday, in Fiuggi, Italy, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
Under the theme “Together for the Stability of the Middle East,” the G7 Foreign Ministers and their Arab counterparts from Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, the UAE, and Qatar, as well as the Secretary-General of the Arab League, discussed the Middle East crises.
Gaza and Lebanon
During his speech, Prince Faisal bin Farhan stressed the importance of strengthening multilateral partnerships to address the pressing regional and international challenges.
Furthermore, the Saudi Foreign Minister highlighted the latest developments in Gaza and Lebanon, emphasizing the need for the international community to assume its responsibilities and to push for an immediate ceasefire.
He also called the international community to ensure the unrestricted delivery of humanitarian aid and advance efforts towards the establishment of an independent Palestinian State through the two-state solution.
Moreover, Prince Faisal underscored the need to de-escalate tensions in Lebanon and respect its sovereignty. He also reiterated the urgent need for a permanent solution to the crises in Sudan to end the country’s humanitarian suffering.
Sudan Crisis
On the same day, the Saudi Foreign Minister participated in the Quadripartite Meeting on Sudan, alongside the UAE, Egypt and the US, on the sidelines of the Outreach Session of the G7 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting.
The Quadripartite Meeting addressed the developments in the Sudan crisis, underscoring the need for unifying efforts to reach an immediate ceasefire, de-escalate tensions, and advance humanitarian efforts.
It also discussed the implementation of the Jeddah Declaration commitments regarding the protection of civilians, in addition to supporting a Sudanese-Sudanese political process to ensure the stability of Sudan and preserve its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to Italy, Faisal bin Sattam bin Abdulaziz, attended both meetings.
