Saudi Economy Surges 4.5% in 2025, Marking Strongest Growth in Two Years

Saudi Arabia’s economy demonstrated remarkable resilience in 2025 by recording its strongest annual growth in over two years at 4.5%. According to the latest data from the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT), all major economic sectors fueled this significant expansion.

Non-oil activities spearheaded the Kingdom’s financial success by adding 2.8 percentage points to the total annual Gross Domestic Product growth. Furthermore, oil-related activities surged by 5.7% while the non-oil sector maintained a robust upward trajectory with a 4.9% expansion. This balanced performance underscores the successful diversification efforts currently transforming the Saudi Arabian landscape under the Vision 2030 framework. Consequently, the total GDP at current prices reached a staggering 4.789 trillion riyals by the end of the year.

Retail and Finance Lead Sectoral Gains

The wholesale and retail trade sectors, alongside restaurants and hotels, led the charge with an impressive growth rate of 6.2%. Close behind, the financial, insurance, and business services sectors expanded by 6.1% to further solidify the nation’s banking strength.

Moreover, electricity, gas, and water activities grew by 6% as infrastructure projects continued to scale across the various regions. These figures highlight a vibrant domestic market where private final consumption rose by 3.5% despite global economic fluctuations.

The economy finished the year with a flourish as real GDP grew by 5% during the final quarter of 2025. Specifically, oil activities jumped 10.8% year-on-year in the fourth quarter, which provided a massive boost to the year-end fiscal results.

Additionally, exports of goods and services increased by 8.9% over the full year to showcase Saudi Arabia’s growing international influence. While government consumption spending saw a tactical decline, the overall trajectory remains firmly positive as the Kingdom enters the new year.
