Saudi Culture Ministry Gears up to Host Contemporary Photography Exhibition in Venice

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Culture gears up to organize “In a New Light” exhibition in Venice, Italy, to showcase the Kingdom’s contemporary photography, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

CEO of the Visual Arts Commission Dina Amin explained that holding the exhibition in Venice marks a significant milestone that mirrors the ongoing development and growing creative momentum of Saudi Arabia’s photography sector.

Amin also underscored that the works of Saudi photographers depict the Kingdom’s national identity through innovative visions that resonate with an international audience.

Set to take place from September 12 to October 10, at the Abbazia building in Venice, the exhibition will present the works shortlisted for the 2025 Kingdom Photography Award. The works shortlisted for the 2025 Kingdom Photography Award.

Launched in 2022, the award represents an annual initiative aimed at empowering professional photographers while supporting emerging talent in the field.

By launching the Kingdom Photography Award, the Visual Arts Commission seeks to support photographers and boost the sustainability of the local photography scene through cultural exchange.

Bold Objectives

Moreover, it aims to enrich visual knowledge and form a photographic archive that documents the Kingdom’s heritage, landscapes, and identity through artistic lenses.

The award also plays a significant role in fostering innovation in photography by encouraging participants to explore new avenues that push beyond traditional boundaries. Meanwhile, it offers a platform for emerging talents to showcase their work on a global stage.

Interestingly, the 2025 edition captured a vast array of submissions from both Saudi and international photographers.

“In a New Light” exhibition is part of a wider cultural program organized by the Saudi Culture Ministry at the Abbazia building in Venice from May 10 to November 23, 2025.

In line with the Saudi Vision 2030, the program focuses on Saudi Arabia’s cultural landscape with a special goal to foster the Kingdom’s international presence.

Thus, it perfectly mirrors the Kingdom’s cultural renaissance and strengthens cultural exchange in line with the National Culture Strategy.

In recent years, Saudi Arabia has emerged as a prestigious artistic destination boasting creative minds and an elite of talented artists. This advancement of the cultural scene has gained both local and international recognitions.
