The Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Mohammed bin Salman, and the French President, Emmanuel Macron, discussed the situation in the Gaza Strip and stressed the need to alleviate the humanitarian suffering of the Palestinian people.
On Sunday, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman received a phone call from Macron, during which they explored cooperation between Saudi Arabia and France across various fields, as well as several issues of mutual interest.
Moreover, the two leaders discussed the latest developments in Gaza and efforts made toward ending the war and establishing security and stability in the Middle East, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
In this context, the Saudi Crown Prince and the French President reaffirmed the need to immediately alleviate the humanitarian suffering of the Palestinian people and achieve a complete Israeli withdrawal from the Strip.
Furthermore, the two leaders emphasized the urgency of taking practical steps to achieve a just peace based on the two-state solution.
A ceasefire agreement took effect between Hamas and Israel in Gaza, based on the US President Donald Trump’s 20-point peace plan. It involves the release of the remaining hostages in exchange for prisoners, gradual Israeli withdrawal, and increasing the flow of humanitarian aid.
Saudi Arabia and France co-hosted the High-Level International Conference on the Peaceful Settlement of the Palestinian Question and Implementation of the Two-State Solution in New York on September 22, 2025, on the sidelines of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly.
The conference culminated in adopting the New York Declaration and saw 10 more countries recognizing the State of Palestine, raising the total number of recognitions to 157 out of the UN’s 193 member states.
