The Saudi Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, received on Sunday a phone call from the newly-appointed British Foreign Secretary, Yvette Cooper, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
During the phone call, the Saudi and British ministers discussed the latest developments in the region and efforts made toward addressing them.
Moreover, Prince Faisal bin Farhan extended his congratulations to Cooper on her appointment as Britain’s new Foreign Secretary, wishing that Saudi Arabia and the UK would continue cooperation to serve their common interests and advance efforts to promote peace in the region and the world.

On September 5, 2025, Cooper was appointed as the British Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, in a major cabinet reshuffle by Prime Minister, Keir Starmer.
Meanwhile, her predecessor, David Lammy, was named Deputy Prime Minister and Justice Minister, according to a statement by the Prime Minister’s office.
Cooper previously served as Secretary of State for the Home Department, from July 5, 2024 to September 5, 2025. She was also elected as the MP for Pontefract, Castleford and Knottingley in July 2024.
