King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) distributed 306 of Eid’s sacrifices in the city of Baidoa, Somalia, benefiting 1,224 individuals from the displaced groups, reported Saudi Press Agency

Saudi Arabia aims to distribute 2,220 sacrifices in the Banaadir region in the Somali capital, Mogadishu, and the southwestern Somali region, benefiting 53,280 individuals.

Muslims celebrate Eid Al Adha by sacrificing an animal (Hadee) and distributing it among the poor. Sacrificing an animal is obligatory for pilgrims performing Tamatt’u and Qarin Hajj, but not Ifrad.

Saudi Aid to Somalia

Last December, KSrelief signed a joint agreement with the Norwegian Refugee Council to improve the living conditions of drought-affected in the Federal Republic of Somalia.

The agreement was represented by Ahmed bin Ali Al-Baiz, Assistant Supervisor General for Operations and Programs at the Centre, and Mohamed Abdi, the Norwegian Refugee Council’s Country Director for Somalia, at the Centre’s headquarters in Riyadh.

Dr. Abdullah bin Saleh Al-Muallim initially detailed the plan to drill 20 artesian wells, each with electric pumps and solar power systems, in Somalia’s Mudug, Nugal, Bari, Sool, and Sanag regions. Moreover, each well will also have a high-rise tank and accessories.

Additionally, six water stations will be upgraded with solar systems and electric pumps. Consequently, this will benefit 130,000 people. Finally, the total cost of these efforts will be at $3.588 million.

This initiative is part of the ongoing efforts by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre, to improve the living conditions of the affected population in Somalia.
