
The Public Transport Programme has launched a new group of public buses in Jeddah including environmentally friendly electric vehicles and new routes, according to Gulf News.
The new fleet seeks to reduce traffic congestion, protect environment, and promote the quality of life for Jeddah’s residents and visitors.
Currently, the project operates an integrated network of 76 buses serving various densely populated residential areas through 14 routes and 91 stops.

In December 2023, Saudi Arabia launched its first hydrogen-powered bus. This step represented a remarkable milestone in the Kingdom’s pursuit to fulfill environmentally friendly transportation.
Furthermore, the Kingdom carried out run-tests for hydrogen-powered trains in Riyadh in the same year. Such trains are generally known for causing zero carbon emissions and supporting and environmental friendliness.
