Saudi Arabia has hosted the first-ever meeting of Arab maritime authorities, organized in collaboration with the International Maritime Organization (IMO), on the sidelines of the second Sustainable Maritime Industry Conference (SIMC25).

The meeting focused on unifying efforts and strengthening technical cooperation between Arab maritime authorities and the IMO. It also emphasized developing joint programs and partnerships to improve operational efficiency, support sustainability, and drive growth across the Arab maritime sector.

The initiative was led by Eng. Essam Al-Amari, Maritime Transport Deputy at the Transport General Authority, and Eng. Kamal Al-Junaidi, Saudi Arabia’s Permanent Representative to the IMO. Their leadership was key in creating an effective dialogue platform that enhanced coordination among Arab authorities and opened new avenues for regional and international collaboration.

As part of SIMC25, a global gathering of leaders, policymakers, and industry experts in maritime transport and logistics, the meeting underscores the Kingdom’s commitment to innovation and sustainable development in the maritime industry.
