The Ministry of Education is enhancing its educational system by investing in advanced technical, logistical, and technological capabilities. These measures aim to create a secure, stimulating, and modern learning environment. By empowering schools, improving governance across 16 educational departments, and entrusting operations and quality management to Tatweer Education Holding Company, the ministry seeks to boost overall efficiency.
Major School Development, Private-Sector Collaboration
This year, 120 new schools were inaugurated under a private-sector partnership model as part of the Kingdom’s privatization program. Since last year, 199 foreign investment licenses have been granted to international educational companies. The ministry has also:
- Supported 1,069 newly established private schools
- Launched 75 construction projects worth SAR920 million
- Completed maintenance for 15,000+ school buildings at a cost exceeding SAR2 billion
- Renovated and rehabilitated 1,400 buildings for SAR782 million
Innovative Schools
In collaboration with the private sector, the ministry has established state-of-the-art, model schools. Key developments include:
- Technical schools for gifted students (initially launched with Tuwaiq Academy, now expanded to five educational departments)
- The Kingdom’s first sports school (in partnership with the Ministry of Sport and Mahd Sports Academy)
- Two cultural talent schools in Riyadh and Jeddah (partnering with the Ministry of Culture)
Embracing Technology, AI in Education
Saudi Arabia’s education system is undergoing a digital transformation that integrates AI and creative learning. Initiatives such as “schools of the future,” the Madrasti online platform, and the Human Capability Development Program are designed to prepare students for the demands of the digital age.
The Cravta interactive platform exemplifies this shift by providing smart tools for teachers and personalized learning paths for students, turning education into an engaging and dynamic experience aligned with Saudi Vision 2030.
Reward-Based Learning, Parental Engagement
Innovators like Fahad Alsuwigh, founder of the educational app B6lapp, are introducing gamified learning. B6lapp uses a points system to reward academic performance and positive behavior. Students can redeem points for digital cards from over 600 brands, while teachers and parents can securely monitor student progress and behavior in a single platform.
Global Partnerships
Saudi education is also being used as a diplomatic and cultural bridge. Through international collaborations and academic exchanges, institutions such as Imam Muhammad ibn Saud Islamic University are attracting global talent. The university recently registered 34 patents in fields like energy, health, and sustainability, further reinforcing the Kingdom’s growing academic influence.
These investments in infrastructure, innovation, and global partnerships are positioning Saudi Arabia as a regional leader in education. From primary classrooms to university research labs, the Kingdom is laying the groundwork for a future driven by knowledge, creativity, and ambition.
