Riyadh Public Transport Authority announced the official prices for annual and student tickets on the Riyadh Metro starting January 2026, which aligns with the kingdom’s broader vision to revolutionize urban mobility and provide world-class transportation for all city residents.
Furthermore, officials confirmed that these new options will facilitate smoother commutes as the city continues its rapid infrastructure development.
The authority clarified that annual tickets are available to all passengers in both digital and plastic formats via Darb, with standard class annual tickets costing SAR1,260, while first-class passengers can secure their yearly access for a price of SAR3,150.
Consequently, frequent commuters will benefit from significant savings compared to the standard monthly rate of SAR140 for regular travel classes.
Students across the capital will receive specialized support through the introduction of highly affordable semester-based tickets for their daily trips. Available to both school and university students, these tickets cost SAR260 and remain valid for four full academic months. This initiative ensures that the youth can access educational institutions reliably while keeping their essential transportation costs at a minimum.
Network Expansion and Vision 2030
The Riyadh Metro currently operates six lines and 85 stations, serving over 120 million passengers since its initial launch phases. In addition to ticket updates, the authority is preparing to launch the first phase of the ambitious Line 7 project, which will span 65 kilometers, eventually connecting the historic Diriyah Gate district to the massive Qiddiya entertainment hub.
Authorities recommend that all passengers purchase their long-term tickets through a registered account to ensure the safety of their data, which allows for the easy retrieval of digital passes if a user loses their physical card or mobile device. By integrating these flexible solutions, the Public Transport Authority encourages more residents to transition from private cars to public transit.
This step represents a cornerstone of the King Abdulaziz Project for Riyadh Public Transport and its commitment to environmental sustainability. The driverless metro network significantly reduces carbon emissions and eases traffic congestion across the major arteries of the growing capital.
As Riyadh prepares for global events like the 2034 FIFA World Cup, this infrastructure provides a vital backbone for mobility.
