Riyadh International Airport Outperforms 17,000 Airports in World in Terms of Punctuality
The aviation data analysis company Cirium has announced its annual ranking of airlines and airports with the best records for on-time performance. Riyadh International Airport received the highest honor as the world’s most punctual airport for departures and arrivals. It was followed by Lima Jorge Chávez International Airport in Peru and Benito Juárez International Airport in Mexico City, which ranked second and third, respectively.
There are approximately 17,678 airports worldwide, spread across various continents and countries, serving a wide range of flights—from international and domestic flights to regional ones—according to international air transport statistics.
“On-time performance” is defined as a scheduled flight arriving or departing within 14 minutes and 59 seconds of the scheduled time.
Mid-sized airports were evaluated separately due to their distinct nature compared to large airports. Moreover, Tocumen International Airport in Panama, Itami International Airport in Japan, and Brasilia International Airport in Brazil took the top three spots in this category.
In the small airport category, José Joaquín de Olmedo International Airport and Mariscal Sucre International Airport, both in Ecuador, secured the top two spots, while El Salvador International Airport ranked third.
