Prince Turki Al-Faisal represents Saudi Arabia today at Queen Elizabeth’s funeral
A source at the British Foreign Office revealed earlier that Prince Turki Al-Faisal will represent Saudi Arabia at the burial of Queen Elizabeth II.
The source told “Reuters” that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is not expected to attend Queen Elizabeth’s funeral, contrary to Britain’s previous expectations of his attendance.
It confirmed that Prince Turki will represent Saudi Arabia instead of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
The source pointed out that this change was made by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
A spokesman for the Saudi embassy in Britain had said that the crown prince would travel to London at the end of the week, but he did not confirm that Mohammed bin Salman would attend the funeral of Queen Elizabeth.
Earlier, a source at the British Foreign Office said that the President of the UAE, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, will participate in the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.
He added that Queen Elizabeth’s funeral will be attended by about 500 guests from nearly 200 countries and regions.
He explained that nearly 100 presidents and prime ministers and more than 20 members of royal families will attend the funeral.
He pointed out that the President of the Emirates, the Sultan of Oman, and the Sultan of Brunei will be among the participants in the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.
He also pointed out that “a representative of the Saudi royal family will also attend.”
The Queen Elizabeth funeral is being held in London on September 19, in the presence of some world leaders and members of the royal family.
Elizabeth’s funeral began at 11 am, at Westminster Abbey in London, after which her body is being taken to Windsor Castle, where she will be buried.
