Ministry of Industry, Mineral Resources, NIDLP Launch Global Innovation Competition 

The National Industrial Development and Logistics Program (NIDLP), in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, has announced the first-ever Global Minerals Innovation Competition under the title Future Minerals Pioneers.

The competition is held under the patronage of Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources and Chairman of the NIDLP Committee, Bandar Alkhorayef, with leadership from Eng. Khalid Al-Mudaifer, Vice Minister for Mining Affairs.

According to NIDLP, the initiative is a major international effort designed to:

  • Develop practical solutions for sustainability in the mining sector.
  • Advance technological innovation for mining operations and services.
  • Foster smart technologies, enhance safety and security, and promote resource sustainability.

The competition seeks to inspire both local and international talent, creating an advanced ecosystem that boosts the long-term competitiveness of Saudi Arabia’s mining industry.

Eligibility, Participation

The program invites students, researchers, entrepreneurs, and professionals worldwide to take part.

  • Teams of 4 to 7 members are eligible.
  • Participants must be 18 years or older and of any nationality.
  • Registration and idea submission are available through the official platform: fmp.nidlp.gov.sa.

Competition Structure

The competition is organized into three key stages:

  1. Qualifying Round – for local innovators.
  2. Global Competition – bringing together international participants.
  3. Final Ceremony – to be held during the 5th Future Minerals Forum in Riyadh, January 2026, where winners will be announced, and supporting entities, partners, and sponsors recognized.

  • Saudi Arabian Mining Company (Maaden) – main partner of the competition.
  • Saudi Mining Services Company (ESNAD) – main partner of the National Competition.

Alignment with Saudi Vision 2030

NIDLP highlighted that this initiative comes at a pivotal moment, as the Saudi mining sector is undergoing a transformation under Vision 2030. The Vision recognizes mining as a strategic priority, driving:

  • Increased investment.
