Saudi Minister of Information announces the Saudi media development goals at SMF2

The designated Minister of Information, Dr. Majid Al-Qasabi, revealed the development goals of the Saudi media system in the Kingdom.

 

He referred to the high economic contributions and the rapid digital development of the sector.

 

Al-Qasabi added that the Saudi media system is on the verge of radical development at all levels.

Orientation towards investment in the private sector

 

He stressed that the media system would establish partnerships with the private sector and international bodies.

 

Dr. Al-Qasabi gave his speech during his participation today in the second edition of the Saudi Media Forum in Riyadh.

Dr. Al-Qasabi explained that the media has changed over time, and mobile phones and their apps have become the source of information.

 

He added that the means change and the media content remains the basis.

Dr. Al-Qasabi affirmed that this change is led by the consumer looking for timely and renewable information.

 

Al-Qasabi mentioned that “WhatsApp” is the first social networking platform, used by about 30 million users in the Kingdom,.

 

Al-Qasabi pointed out that the Ministry of Information system consists of several entities like Radio and Saudi Press Agency.

 

He pointed out that there are great opportunities in the media sector in the Kingdom in the high contribution to the domestic product, and the promotion of local digital content.

 

The minister said: “Among the challenges facing the Saudi media is the failure to keep up with regulations and systems.

 

Dr. Al-Qasabi explained that the Saudi media has promising building foundations represented in Vision 2030, the Kingdom’s strategic weight, transformational and development projects.

 

He pointed out that the Kingdom occupies the leadership in the regional market, especially in spending and investment.
