Minister of Industry Visits Japan to Enhance Partnership

Yesterday, Bandar bin Ibrahim Al-Khorayef, the Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, began an official visit to Japan. He is meeting with government officials, private sector companies in industry and mining, and investors to enhance the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

Areas of Discussion

His discussions with the officials focus on implementing “Saudi-Japanese Vision 2030” projects. The vision was agreed upon during the Crown Prince and Prime Minister’s visit to Japan in September 2016.

This Vision encompasses nine sectors including food security, agriculture, medical care, high-quality infrastructure, finance, investment, competitive industries, and small and medium enterprise development.

During his visit, the Minister will meet with Japanese investors to highlight Saudi Arabia’s investment environment and attract quality investments to key sectors. The Saudi Industrial Fund has financed 15 joint projects with Japan, totaling 5,434,947,000 Saudi Riyals. Saudi industrial cities host 11 factories for Japanese investors with Saudi partners, working in various sectors like chemical, medical, and electrical industries for cable production.

The Easing of Visa Restrictions

In recent years, Japan has been actively working to strengthen its ties with various nations. One significant move in this direction has been the relaxation of visa requirements for Saudi nationals.

This decision opens new doors for Saudi tourists. It also marks a positive step in the bilateral relations between Japan and KSA.

In an effort to promote tourism and encourage more visitors from KSA, Japan has taken significant steps to simplify the visa application process. This change allows Saudi nationals to obtain their Japanese visas with more ease and convenience.

Previously, obtaining a Japanese visa could be a cumbersome and time-consuming process, deterring some potential travelers.

However, with these relaxed requirements, Saudi nationals now have a smoother path to exploring the Land of the Rising Sun.
