Manga Arabia, part of the Saudi Research and Media Group (SRMG), has unveiled the launch of its Wa’ed initiative during the Riyadh International Book Fair, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
The initiative seeks to empower emerging Saudi and Arab talent in the comics and manga industry.
It also aims at supporting content development and showcasing original works to Arab readers through Manga Arabia’s digital channels.
Interestingly, Wa’ed aligns with Manga Arabia’s broader strategy to expand the pool of local creators and elevate their skills within a professional ecosystem that meets the aspirations of the new generation.
In its inaugural phase, Manga Arabia introduced over ten narratives crafted by more than 30 up-and-coming illustrators and storytellers.
This milestone reflects the company’s dedication to delivering authentic Arabic content that meets the highest international standards and resonates with global audiences.
The company leverages its extensive local and global reach through its two main publications — Manga Arabia for Youth and Manga Arabia for Kids — available in both digital and print formats.
Moreover, it has launched the Manga Arabia Competition to empower emerging writers and illustrators.
The competition has drawn participation from more than 1,500 contestants, with prizes surpassing SAR 250,000, over three consecutive editions.
Faris Al-Rashoud, Deputy General Manager of Manga Arabia, noted that Wa’ed marks a significant milestone in supporting emerging Saudi and Arab manga creators.
Al-Rashoud added that supporting national and Arab talents in their early stages represents a long-term investment in the creative content industry.
“We are proud to feature works by talented newcomers across our platforms, connecting them with extensive audiences and unleashing new horizons toward professional growth,” he said.
