King Salman, Crown Prince Send Condolences to Sultan of Oman over Flood Victims

King Salman, and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, sent cables of condolences on Monday to Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of the Sultanate of Oman, after several people died and others reported missing as a result of floods in different parts of Oman.

The Saudi leaders expressed their sincerest condolences to the Sultan and the families of the deceased, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

Beginning on Sunday, thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds have struck Oman, causing flash floods in several regions in the north and east of the country.

The authorities said that the flooding in Oman has killed at least 16 people, many of them schoolchildren, and 5 individuals reported missing in the floods that hit the northeast of the country, according to Al-Arabiya.

On Monday, the Ministry of Education closed schools in most regions as a precaution against the flooding, which blocked several roads. Authorities in Oman have conducted rescue operations for dozens of people who were left stranded.
