King Abdulaziz Public Library has on Wednesday celebrated the World Children’s Day by presenting a cultural and entertainment program catered to mark the day, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
More than 1,000 children and their families attended the program, which offered a blend of fun, creativity and education through various entertainment and cultural activities.
The program included many events, such as the “Story and Idea” event. It featured stories rich in moral values, presented by skilled storytellers in an interesting way. Moreover, it included a puppet theater which presented an interactive show that enhances education and positive values.
In addition, the program featured cognitive and brain games through innovative activities that allow children to develop creative thinking and cognitive skills in an exciting interactive environment. It also screened animated films from the library’s collection, which combined entertainment and education in amazing stories.
The Children’s Libraries section at King Abdulaziz Public Library is one of Saudi Arabia’s most significant cultural hubs for children. It offers a wide range of cultural activities and programs for children, including publishing stories in Arabic and other languages, theatrical and cinematic shows, and family-oriented entertainment events.

The program falls within the King Abdulaziz Public Library’s efforts to promote the concept of cultural tourism domestically and globally, by delivering a comprehensive experience that blends cultural heritage with modernity.
The world marks the World Children’s Day on November 20 of each year to promote international togetherness, awareness among children worldwide, and improving children’s welfare.
On the same day in 1959, the UN General Assembly adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child. In 1989, the UN General Assembly adopted the Convention on the Rights of the Child. In 1990, the UN General Assembly adopted both the Declaration and the Convention on children’s rights.
