Jeddah Calling: Saudi Driver Farah Al-Yousef to Race F1 Academy

Saudi Arabian racing driver Farah Al-Yousef will make history as she prepares to compete against elite drivers in Jeddah next year. The 22-year-old talent from Riyadh has been selected as the “wild card” entry for the F1 Academy support race during the 2025 Formula 1 STC Saudi Arabian Grand Prix weekend. This prestigious opportunity will see Al-Yousef race alongside some of the biggest names in motorsport, including Max Verstappen, Lando Norris, and Lewis Hamilton, at the iconic Jeddah Corniche Circuit from April 18-20.

A Rising Star in Saudi Motorsport

Al-Yousef’s journey in motorsport has been remarkable. She recently qualified for the Formula Woman World Qualifiers in Dubai, where 50 women from 26 countries competed for a spot in the FW Nations Cup Festival. This event will take place in the emirate shortly after the 2025 Saudi Arabian F1 Grand Prix.

In 2023, Al-Yousef clinched the title of Saudi Female Karting Champion, showcasing her talent and determination.

From Engineering to Motorsport

Having studied aerospace engineering in the UK, Al-Yousef now plans to focus on her motorsport career. Over the next few months, she will test and race behind the wheel of a Formula 4 single-seater car, the same type she will drive in April’s race.

Expressing her excitement, Al-Yousef said, “I’m happy and so proud to represent my country as the wild card entry for the GP and be the only Saudi Arabia entry for both the GP and the FW Nations Cup.” She added, “I am so grateful to Saudi Motorsport for assisting me with their support and my training. I can’t wait to start testing again and look forward to having a look at the amazing Jeddah Corniche track.”

Paving the Way for Future Saudi Drivers

Al-Yousef’s participation in the F1 Academy marks a significant milestone for Saudi Arabian motorsport. Historically, there have been no drivers representing Saudi Arabia in Formula 1.

Her achievements not only break barriers but also inspire a new generation of Saudi drivers to pursue careers in motorsport.

As the 2025 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix approaches, all eyes will be on Farah Al-Yousef as she prepares to make her mark on the international racing stage.
