The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development’s recent efforts were recognized by the International Labor Organization ILO, which lauded the Kingdom for its successes in the field of occupational safety and health.
Dr. Ruba Jaradat, ILOs regional director for the Arab States, reaffirmed the Kingdom’s numerous accomplishments that have encouraged enhancing workplace safety and health and lowering work accidents and injuries at the national level.
She added that among the achievements are also the formation of the National Council for Occupational Safety and Health (National COSH), and the preparation of a program to train and employ thousands of specialists in this field.
The Kingdom has cooperated with the ILO in the field of occupational safety and health, as the Kingdom has recently ratified ILO Convention No. 120 of 1964 AD regarding health rules in trade and offices.
It is noteworthy that this commendation comes as a reflection of the Kingdom’s interest in the work environment in general and occupational safety and health in particular.
The Kingdom has launched the initiative of (National COSH) intending to improve working conditions.
The Ministry also launched an initiative to enhance occupational safety and health within the labor market strategy.
The establishment of (the National COSH) as the first council of its kind in the region is one of the important outcomes of these initiatives.
