Carlos Khneisser, Vice President of Development for Hilton in the Middle East and Africa, shared this ambitious vision, underlining the brand’s commitment to growth and expansion in these key Middle Eastern markets.
Hilton’s Current Presence and Ongoing Projects
Presently, Hilton manages 16 hotels in Egypt and has contractual agreements for the management of 15 more hotels that are currently under construction. This robust presence underscores the company’s dedication to catering to the needs of travelers in Egypt, a nation known for its rich history and vibrant tourism industry.
Eyeing Expansion: Egypt’s Varied Landscapes
Hilton’s current properties in Egypt are strategically located in Cairo, as well as in the cities of Marsa Alam and Sharm El Sheikh. However, the brand has set its sights on further expansion in the New Administrative Capital, New Cairo, and the North Coast, according to Khneisser.
Notable Openings in 2022 and Beyond
Khneisser also revealed Hilton’s plans for the near future. The company is on track to open two hotels in Cairo in 2024, in addition to Hilton Tower in the New Administrative Capital by the end of 2026. These developments signify Hilton’s commitment to contributing to Egypt’s thriving hospitality sector.
The Recent Agreement for Hilton Tower
In a recent announcement, Hilton disclosed the signing of a management agreement for Hilton Tower in the New Administrative Capital, owned by Amazon Egyptian Real Estate Development Company. This luxurious property boasts 120 units, including 72 rooms and 48 one-bedroom suites, along with four restaurants, a swimming pool, and a fitness center.
Impressive Visitor Statistics
In 2022, Hilton’s hotels in Egypt welcomed approximately 500,000 international guests, representing a 20% increase compared to 2019 and a remarkable 50% surge compared to 2021. Notably, visitors from Gulf countries accounted for 25% of Hilton’s international guests in Egypt in 2022, signaling the region’s growing popularity among travelers.
Hilton’s Expansive Plans
Khneisser also outlined Hilton’s ambitious expansion plan in Saudi Arabia, one of the brand’s fastest-growing markets. The plan encompasses the opening of more than 60 hotels within the next 3 to 5 years. This growth trajectory underscores the Kingdom’s significance in Hilton’s global expansion strategy.
Hilton’s Current Footprint in Saudi Arabia
Presently, Hilton manages around 24 hotels in Saudi Arabia, a number set to increase to approximately 85 hotels by the end of 2028. This expansive growth illustrates Hilton’s commitment to meeting the diverse needs of travelers in the region.
Saudi Arabia: A Key Growth Market for Hilton
Saudi Arabia is undeniably one of Hilton’s key growth markets, with the brand signing agreements for several new hotels in the Kingdom. These include a Conrad-branded hotel in the Wadi Leisan area of Riyadh, two hotels in Abha, and a Canopy by Hilton hotel in the Porta Jeddah project. This cements Saudi Arabia’s position as Hilton’s largest market for projects under development in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa and the fourth-largest globally.
In conclusion, Hilton’s plans for significant expansion in Egypt and Saudi Arabia underscore the brand’s commitment to these dynamic and rapidly growing markets. With a strong track record of managing and delivering world-class hospitality, Hilton aims to meet the evolving needs of travelers, both domestic and international, while contributing to the economic growth and development of these vibrant nations.
