General Authority for Roads Opens Regional Office of IRAP in Riyadh
Today, the General Authority for Roads announced the opening of the regional office of the International Road Assessment Program (IRAP) in Riyadh, as per Saudi Press Agency. The acting CEO of the General Authority for Roads Badr Al-Dulami attended the event as well as the CEO of the IRAP organization Rob McInerney.
Office’s Objectives
This office aims to promote and spread awareness of traffic safety and improve road traffic safety levels in the MENA region. Moreover, it aims to assist partners in priority countries in developing policies and assessments related to road traffic safety.
These policies would reduce accidents and deaths. The office also organizes and hosts knowledge exchange events and initiatives which enhance traffic safety initiatives.
Importance of IRAP Organization
The international IRAP organization is considered one of the most prominent organizations in the field of road traffic safety assessment. It provides a comprehensive set of services and activities to improve road safety.
Among the activities carried out by the organization is monitoring the improvement in safety assessment.
Furthermore, it presents investment plans and recommendations to raise the level of safety of existing roads and the roads to be constructed.
The organization also works on implementing partnerships to apply modern technologies in the field of traffic safety. It also works on providing training and technical support in the field of road safety engineering, and exchanging knowledge through national events and conferences.
The establishment of the regional office of the IRAP in Riyadh is an important step towards enhancing traffic safety in the region and achieving the objectives of the road sector strategy. This strategy is based on safety, quality and traffic density.
