The Film Commission has confirmed its participation in the 2025 edition of the Locarno Film Festival, scheduled to take place from August 6 to 16 in Locarno, Switzerland. Established in 1946, the festival is internationally recognized for its dedication to bold cinematic voices, with a focus on experimental films, arthouse productions, and debut features from emerging filmmakers.
This participation underscores the Commission’s commitment to positioning Saudi Arabia as a prominent player in the global film industry, while also nurturing local talent and promoting homegrown content.

The Saudi delegation will include representatives from the Film Commission alongside a group of Saudi filmmakers, all of whom will engage in key festival activities and industry-focused programs.
Through this presence, the Commission aims to champion independent cinema, support non-commercial productions, and highlight Saudi Arabia’s cultural depth and diverse landscapes—positioning the Kingdom as an attractive destination for international film production. This initiative aligns with the national vision to develop the film sector as both a cultural catalyst and an engine of economic growth.
