Egypt, Saudi Arabia May Pose Joint Bid to host the 2030 World Cup
According to the Egyptian privately-run online portal “Cairo 24,” Egypt will begin formally hosting and organizing the 2030 World Cup in the following months, with a joint file with Saudi Arabia.
The joint file will be formally published the next time, according to the “Cairo 24” website, after the two nations decided to organize the big global event and create a joint committee led by Hani Abu Rida, a member of the FIFA Supreme Council, to win the event.
The Minister of Youth and Sports, Ashraf Sobhi, previously stated that the 2030 World Cup is in Egypt’s plans as part of its sustainable development plan and that Egypt will aspire to host the tournament.
Egypt has been successful in hosting some important athletic events in recent years, most notably the African Nations Cup in June 2019, the African Nations Cup qualification for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, and the Handball World Cup.
