The Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST) has unveiled plans for a major side event to take place alongside the Global Symposium for Regulators (GSR25). The symposium will be held at the King Abdulaziz International Conference Center in Riyadh from August 31 to September 3.
Saeed AlGhamdi, CST’s Assistant Deputy Governor for Corporate Communications and Marketing, described the event as a vital expression of global cooperation. He emphasized that it will serve as a dynamic platform for showcasing regulatory innovation and exchanging insights on the future of digital regulation and emerging technologies.
AlGhamdi added that the initiative reflects CST’s commitment to international collaboration and reinforces Saudi Arabia’s leadership in advocating for sustainable digital regulation.
“Media Oasis”
The side event will officially kick off on August 31 with the inauguration of the “Media Oasis,” organized in partnership with the Ministry of Media. This interactive hub will feature pavilions highlighting major government projects and innovations in regulatory technology (RegTech).
The Media Oasis will also host contributions from leading local and global companies in telecommunications, space, and technology. It will spotlight success stories from Saudi AI startups and feature the Sync Digital Balance initiative, which will include dialogue sessions focused on digital well-being.
TEDxRiyadh
As part of the side event’s program, TEDxRiyadh sessions will be held on September 2. These sessions will offer inspiring talks and personal stories highlighting the human experience behind advances in technology and artificial intelligence. The goal is to emphasize the human role at the heart of technological progress.
Throughout the event, a series of expert-led panel discussions and interactive presentations will explore pressing regulatory topics, including:
- The future of artificial intelligence in the 6G era
- Governance and ethical implications of quantum technologies
- Integration of terrestrial and non-terrestrial networks for global connectivity
The event will also present findings from SpaceUp, a CST initiative focused on creating space-based solutions to address critical global challenges across key sectors.
This side event is part of CST’s broader mission to position Saudi Arabia as a global hub for innovation and digital regulation. It aligns with the Kingdom’s digital economy goals by promoting sustainable digital practices, strengthening future-ready infrastructure, and empowering transformative technologies that foster human connectivity.
