Minister of Commerce Dr. Majid Al-Kassabi inaugurated the Makkah Halal Forum on Wednesday under the theme “Sustainable Development through Halal.”
The forum, held at the Makkah Chamber for Exhibitions and Events Center, gathered officials, business leaders, and key stakeholders. Dr. Al-Kassabi, along with attendees, toured the accompanying exhibition before participating in the official opening ceremony.
Global Halal Products Market
In his speech, the minister highlighted the rapid growth of the halal industry, stating that the global halal products market is valued at approximately $7 trillion in 2024 and is projected to reach $10 trillion by 2030, growing at an annual rate of 5.5%. He emphasized that the halal sector is no longer confined to Islamic countries but has gained global prominence due to its commitment to quality, health, and religious standards.
Dr. Al-Kassabi also reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to positioning itself as a global hub for the halal industry in line with Vision 2030. This goal is being pursued through the national halal strategy and the establishment of the Halal Products Development Company to drive innovation, enhance quality, and expand market opportunities.
Makkah Chamber of Commerce
Chairman of the Makkah Chamber of Commerce, Abdullah Saleh Kamel, who also chairs the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development, underscored the forum’s role as a leading global platform for advancing the halal industry and strengthening the Islamic economy. He noted that as the halal market continues to expand into multiple sectors, new strategies are essential to maintain excellence and quality. He also emphasized Makkah’s central role in spearheading these initiatives.
The event concluded with the signing of several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) between local, Islamic, and international organizations. Additionally, key participants, sponsors, and individuals who contributed to the forum’s success—including Dr. Al-Kassabi—were honored for their efforts.
