The G20 Startup20 Summit wrapped up on Saturday in Johannesburg, South Africa, with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia represented by a delegation led by Prince Fahd bin Mansour bin Nasser bin Abdulaziz, Chairman of the G20 Startups.
Sponsored by NEOM, the summit brought together participants from government entities as well as the private and non-profit sectors engaged in entrepreneurship and innovation.
Saudi Arabia’s involvement aimed to enhance its role within the G20. The event featured the signing of several memoranda of understanding (MoUs) and discussions on partnerships with international organizations dedicated to developing the global startup ecosystem.
The Saudi delegation showcased national initiatives and success stories that have bolstered the country’s entrepreneurial landscape and empowered its youth. The Saudi pavilion attracted strong interest from representatives of various countries and international investors, highlighting major projects that reflect the rapid expansion of the Kingdom’s startup sector.
Delegation members also joined workshops and panel sessions focused on fostering innovation and strengthening cross-sector collaboration to support startups and drive sustainable global economic growth.
Netzero
In a notable achievement, Saudi company Netzero earned first place in the Sustainability and Environmental Technology category at the Startup20 Awards. Additionally, the recognition underscores the company’s innovative green solutions and the global competitiveness of Saudi startups.
Closing the summit, Prince Fahd bin Mansour reaffirmed that Saudi Arabia’s participation reflects its continued commitment to supporting entrepreneurs and innovators. He also emphasized that the Kingdom’s progress in entrepreneurship strengthens its international presence and aligns with Vision 2030’s goals of building a diversified, sustainable, and innovation-driven economy.
