King Abdullah Gardens: Green Oasis in Desert Progresses Toward Completion

The Riyadh Region Municipality continues to make significant progress in the construction phases of the King Abdullah Gardens project. It is considered one of the largest covered parks in the world. It embodies an architectural icon characterized by a distinctive style and represents a unique shift in the fields of tourism and entertainment.

Al-Hilalain Building

The completion rate for the iconic “Al-Hilalain Building” has exceeded 70%. The roof features “ETFE,” a transparent material known for its durability, light transmission, and cost-effectiveness. The upper windows of the enclosed gardens are installed, stone cladding for the Hilalain is finished, and expansion joints have been added to the metal structure. Additionally, the completion rates are 35% for the rock formations, 70% for the bird garden, and 60% for the energy building.

The gardens feature over 700,000 trees and shrubs across seven botanical gardens within two crescents: Paulsen Garden, Choices Garden, Carbon Garden, Modern Era Garden, Devonian Garden, Chalk Garden, and Jurassic Garden. Additionally, there are eight external botanical gardens: Maze Garden, Nature Garden, Butterfly Garden, Exploration Garden, Birds Garden, Sound and Light Garden, Valley Garden, and Water Gardens.

It is worth mentioning that the area of King Abdullah Parks exceeds two million square meters.

Moreover, the Riyadh Municipality aims to establish the area as a recreational destination with high standards. Their goal is to offer a unique experience and create a cultural beacon that fosters an attractive and sustainable environment.

Finally, this initiative promotes coexistence and environmental development, contributing to a prosperous and sustainable community.
