Saudi Arabia Hails Syrian Ceasefire as Milestone for Regional Stability

Saudi Arabia formally welcomed a comprehensive ceasefire agreement between the Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued its statement via X, emphasizing regional peace priorities. Furthermore, the Kingdom expressed hope that this comprehensive accord will contribute to lasting peace, security, and stability in Syria.
The Ministry stated that the Kingdom hopes development fulfills the aspirations of the brotherly Syrian people while it simultaneously enhances national unity across the entire country.
Furthermore, the ministry renewed its full support for all efforts that the Syrian government exerts to safeguard sovereignty and territorial integrity.
“We appreciate the responsiveness of the Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces to the Kingdom’s endeavors and the efforts made by the United States of America in consolidating the de-escalation and reaching this agreement.”

Integration and Military Reorganization
The Syrian government and the Kurdish-led SDF confirmed they agreed to a phased integration of military and administrative bodies on Friday. Under this broad deal, forces that amassed on northern front lines will pull back to allow for immediate regional stabilization.
Interior Ministry security forces will now deploy to the centers of Hasakah and Qamishli, which the SDF currently holds. Consequently, the two parties will merge local security forces to ensure a unified command structure under the central Syrian state.
The parties announced the deal after government forces under President Ahmed Al-Sharaa captured swathes of northern and eastern Syria this month. These strategic maneuvers forced Kurdish units to retreat into a shrinking enclave before both sides successfully negotiated this historic diplomatic breakthrough.
The agreement specifically includes the formation of a military division that will include three distinct and fully integrated SDF brigades. In addition, the deal creates a brigade for forces in Kobani which will eventually affiliate with the Aleppo governorate administration.
