The Regional Voluntary Carbon Market Company (VCM) and ROSHN Group have announced a strategic partnership to explore opportunities for generating high-integrity carbon credits in support of ROSHN Group’s broader sustainability objectives.
According to a VCM press release, the collaboration represents a significant advisory milestone for VCM, further strengthening its position as the Kingdom’s trusted carbon market partner for sector-wide decarbonization. Leveraging its expertise in carbon markets, project structuring, and credit issuance, VCM will advise ROSHN Group on developing a comprehensive framework for creating high-integrity carbon credits. Additionally, the initial phase will focus on evaluating emissions reduction potential through the adoption of water-saving technologies.
The proposed framework aims to convert the decarbonization impact of ROSHN Group’s sustainable practices—across its business operations and core developments—into tradable carbon assets. This would enable ROSHN Group to participate in the Kingdom’s expanding voluntary carbon market while unlocking alternative financing opportunities to support the delivery of resource-efficient infrastructure and developments.
Fadi Saadeh, Acting CEO and Head of Technology at VCM, stated: “The real estate sector plays a vital role in the Kingdom’s development ambitions, and sustainability must be embedded at its foundation. Moreover, our collaboration with ROSHN Group marks an important milestone for VCM and demonstrates how carbon market mechanisms can accelerate decarbonization across key sectors.”
The release noted that the partnership underscores VCM’s continued efforts to scale Saudi Arabia’s voluntary carbon market ecosystem, enabling broader sector participation in carbon finance and contributing to the Kingdom’s net-zero goals.
