UN-GCC’s 3rd political dialogue kicks off its activities
The 3rd political dialogue between Political Affairs and Negotiations in the General Secretariat of the GCC and the Political Affairs and Peacebuilding Sector at the UN has been held at the Cooperation Council pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai on Saturday and Sunday 19-20 March 2022.
During the meeting, they exchanged views on many regional and international issues of common interest, such as the Palestinian issue, the situation in Sudan, Yemen, and Libya, developments in Iran’s nuclear file, and Iran’s role and destabilizing activities in the region.
The latest developments in Afghanistan and Ukraine were also discussed.
The Assistant Secretary for Political Affairs and Negotiations in the GCC, Dr. Abdulaziz Hamad Al-Owaishek, stated that holding the third dialogue stems from the role of the GCC as a partner of the UN in promoting peace and security at the regional and international levels.
The meeting also came in implementation of the memorandum of understanding concluded between the two sides in December 2018.
He noted that during the meeting some topics on the agenda were discussed, including the discussion of the executive work plan emanating from the memorandum of understanding.
