U.S. stocks rose significantly Tuesday.
The Dow Jones industrial average rose 207.06, or 0.8 percent, to 25,532.05. It was its biggest daily gain in a month. Twenty-five of the index’s 30 components advanced, led by Dow Inc., which jumped 3 percent. Visa surged 1.8 percent, while Caterpillar and Boeing climbed 1.7 percent.
The broader Standard & Poor’s 500 index rose 22.54, or 0.8 percent, to 2834.41. Technology led advancing sectors. Bank shares also climbed, with Citigroup and Bank of America gaining more than 1 percent each.
The technology-heavy Nasdaq composite index rose 87.47, or 1.1 percent, to 7,734.49. Apple surged 1.6 percent and Amazon added 1 percent, but other big technology stocks underperformed, with Google-parent Alphabet dropping 1 percent, Facebook losing 0.4 percent, and Netflix declining 0.1 percent.
