Two-State Solution Conf.: Saudi Crown Prince to Deliver Virtual Address

The Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Mohammed bin Salman, will participate in the upcoming High-level International Conference for the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, through videoconference or a pre-recorded message.

On Friday, the UN General Assembly adopted a Saudi-proposed oral decision allowing Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to deliver a statement by video or pre-recorded message at the high-level conference, which Saudi Arabia and France will co-chair on September 22, 2025 in New York.

Nations participating in the 80th session of the UN General Assembly will take part in the high-level conference aimed at reviving efforts for a two-state solution to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. During the conference, dozens of countries intend to formally recognize the State of Palestine.

Moreover, the UN General Assembly overwhelmingly adopted a resolution allowing Palestine’s representatives to participate virtually in the Assembly’s 80th session. The resolution also permits the Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas, to deliver a pre-recorded video statement in the General Assembly Hall.

The resolution passed with a vote of 145 in favor, 5 against (Israel, Nauru, Palau, Paraguay, and the US), and 6 abstentions (Albania, Fiji, Hungary, North Macedonia, Panama, and Papua New Guinea).

On August 29, the US State Department denied and revoked visas from around 80 members of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and the Palestinian Authority (PA) planning to attend the 80th UN General Assembly in New York, citing reasons related to national security.

It said that the Palestinian officials had failed to comply with past commitments, and are undermining the prospects for peace.
