The Saudi national team, led by Italian Roberto Mancini, defeated Pakistan 3-0 at Jinnah Stadium in Islamabad on Thursday evening. This victory was part of the fifth round of the Asian qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup and the 2027 Asian Cup. The team qualified for the third round of the World Cup qualifiers before the final round.
The goals of the match were scored by star Firas Al-Braikan in the 26th and 42nd minutes, respectively, before player Musab Fahd Al-Jawir added in the 59th minute.
The Saudi national team leads the Group Seven standings with 13 points, officially qualifying for the decisive third round of the qualifiers. The Pakistani national team is at the bottom of the same group without any points after losing 5 matches in a row.
The first two teams from the nine groups qualify for the third round of the World Cup qualifiers scheduled for the United States, Canada and Mexico. Moreover, these teams reserve their places in the 2027 Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia.
The Saudi Green strengthened its lead in the group’s ranking table. Additionally, Saudi Arabia confirmed its qualification from Group Seven by defeating Pakistan in Islamabad.
Ayman Yahya, Al-Nasr club star, will miss the important match against Pakistan in the World Cup qualifiers.
The Saudi national team will conclude its double qualifying campaign by facing its Jordanian counterpart next Tuesday, June 11.
