Saudi Football Federation Increases Number of Foreign Players to 10

The Saudi Football Federation, in collaboration with the Saudi Professional League, has decided to modify the number of players registered in the first team squads of the Roshen Saudi Professional League clubs.

The Saudi Federation explained that it has been decided to allow each club to register 25 players. This will, basically, take into account the right of each club to register up to 10 non-Saudi players.

Saudi Football Federation Increases Number of Professionals

The Saudi federation added that it requires the participation of 8 players in each match. This will start from the 2024-2025 sports season.

The Saudi Football Federation issued an official statement, published on its social media account “X”, as follows:

1. Eight non-Saudi players without specifying a minimum date of birth.

2. Two non-Saudi players born in 2003 or later, with the aim of enhancing the investment aspect in talents at the clubs.

3. Continuation of the right of each club to register one professional player born in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, born in 1998 or later.

4. Each team participating in the Roshen Saudi Professional League is entitled to register up to 8 non-Saudi players in the list for each match. This will be in addition to the professional born in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. (This excludes the King’s Cup and the Saudi Super Cup competitions, where all registered non-Saudi players can participate).

The decision comes after coordination with the club support strategy, the national teams’ management, and the technical director of the Saudi Federation, in addition to holding several workshops with the clubs.

The Asian Football Confederation has decided to cancel the away goals rule in the knockout stages of the AFC Champions League.

The Asian Federation confirmed the cancellation of the away goals rule in the knockout stage matches of the tournament. It will be played on a home and away basis.

Asian Football Federation Reveals Details of the AFC Champions League

The Asian Federation emphasized that the system of resorting to extra time and penalty shootouts will be adopted to determine the team advancing to the next round in the knockout stage matches, in case the teams are tied in the aggregate score of the home and away matches.
