
The Saudi Defense Minister, Prince Khalid bin Salman, has underscored Saudi Arabia’s support for Qatar following the blatant Israeli attack that targeted Hamas leaders in Doha.
On Wednesday, the Saudi Defense Minister held a phone call with the Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
Reiterating Saudi Support for Qatar
During the call, Prince Khalid affirmed Saudi Arabia’s unwavering support for Qatar and the Kingdom’s condemnation of the blatant Israeli attack on Doha, which is considered a criminal act and a flagrant violation of all international laws and norms.
The Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, on his part, reiterated that Doha will take all necessary measures to protect its security and safeguard its sovereignty in response to the blatant Israeli attack, according to a statement by Qatar’s Foreign Ministry.
Israeli Attack in Doha
On Tuesday, Israel carried out military strikes targeting Hamas political leadership in Doha, killing five group officials, including Khalil Al-Hayya’s son and the director of his office, in addition to a Qatari security official, reported CNN.
The Israeli attack, which took place inside the territory of a close US ally and a key mediator in Gaza ceasefire talks, has sparked global condemnation as a flagrant violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and a threat to peace negotiations.
Saudi Solidarity with Qatar
Saudi Arabia strongly condemned the Israeli brutal aggression and the blatant violation of the sovereignty of Qatar, reaffirming full solidarity and support for Qatar in any measure it may take. It also warned of the grave consequences of Israel’s persistent criminal assaults and its blatant violations of the principles of international law and norms.
Moreover, the Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Mohammed bin Salman, held a phone conversation with Qatar’s Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, reiterating Saudi Arabia’s full solidarity with Qatar and emphasizing the Kingdom’s readiness to support Qatar in any measures it takes to protect its security and sovereignty.
