Saudi Communications Min., OpenAI CEO Explore 1st Regional AI Inference Ecosystem

The Saudi Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Abdullah Alswaha, met on Friday with the CEO of OpenAI, Sam Altman, in the US, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

The meeting was part of Alswaha’s visit to the US, as the Kingdom seeks to bolster global partnerships in technology and artificial intelligence (AI), and to enhance collaboration in generative technologies and the development of innovative digital solutions.

During the meeting, the Saudi Minister and OpenAI CEO discussed ways to empower global AI inference centers, in order to develop advanced infrastructure that supports reliable AI applications and promote Saudi Arabia’s status as a global hub for research and advanced technologies.

Saudi Arabia is fostering its partnership with OpenAI through an integrative collaboration between HUMAIN and Groq to build the first AI inference ecosystem in the region.

This includes utilizing national data centers that deploy advanced Groq chips to operate OpenAI models with high efficiency and speed, according to the Saudi Communications and Information Technology Ministry.

This collaboration builds on the Kingdom’s efforts to reinforce the ecosystem of digital economy and AI, establishing its leadership in building a future based on knowledge and innovation, in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.

OpenAI is one of the world’s top generative AI companies. Its areas of expertise include developing generative models and computational infrastructure, developer and institutional platforms, and strategic partnerships in infrastructure.

Alswaha is leading a high-level delegation to the US to strengthen strategic partnerships in AI and innovative digital solutions. He met with several senior government officials, pioneering AI and technology companies, as well as prominent investors.
