Saudi Arabia announces Thursday as 1st day of Ramadan
On Tuesday, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar, Iraq, Yemen, Palestine, Syria, Sudan, and Kuwait announced that Wednesday is the completion of the month of Sha’ban, and Thursday is the first day of Ramadan for the year 1444 AH.
The Saudi Royal Court announced, on Tuesday, that Thursday is the first day of Ramadan for the year 1444 AH, and the Egyptian Dar Al Iftaa also reported it.
In Palestine, Sheikh Muhammad Hussein, the Mufti of Jerusalem, said in a statement that the sighting of the crescent of the month of Ramadan had not been proven, on Tuesday, and therefore Thursday is the first day of the month.
He added, “From the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, the first of the two qiblas, the second of the two mosques, and the third of the mosques to which travelers draw, we congratulate Muslims in the east and west of the land, and our Palestinian people in the homeland and in the diaspora, on the advent of this blessed month.”
The Emirates, the Fiqh Scientific Council in Syria, the Ministry of Awqaf in the Yemeni government, the Sharia Vision Authority in Bahrain, the Crescent Vision Investigation Committee in Qatar, the Sharia Vision Authority in Kuwait, and the Islamic Fiqh Academy in Sudan also announced, as announced by the Sunni Endowment Office in Iraq, on Thursday, The first day of Ramadan.
