Qualcomm, Aramco, RDIA Unite to Boost Saudi Arabia’s High-Tech Startups
Qualcomm Technologies, Aramco, and Saudi Arabia’s Research, Development and Innovation Authority (RDIA) have partnered to launch the Design in Saudi Arabia (DISA) initiative. This incubator program aims to support startups specializing in artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and wireless technologies for industrial applications.
Comprehensive Support for Early-Stage Startups
DISA will guide early-stage startups through product design, development, and commercialization. The program offers technical assistance, business coaching, and training on intellectual property (IP), fostering growth in Saudi Arabia’s high-tech ecosystem.
Access to Qualcomm and Aramco Resources
Participating startups will have access to Qualcomm’s technology platforms, including mobile, 4G, 5G, IoT, AI, and machine learning. Aramco’s Saudi Accelerated Innovation Lab will provide additional resources, including incubation support, lab access, and financial grants.
Selected startups will collaborate with Qualcomm’s business teams and explore global commercial ventures. This partnership aims to accelerate digital transformation in the Kingdom.
Leaders Highlight Initiative’s Impact
Wassim Chourbaji, Qualcomm’s SVP for MEA, expressed excitement about supporting Saudi Arabia’s high-tech innovation. He emphasized the initiative’s role in guiding startups through design, development, and commercialization phases.
Nabil A. Al Nuaim, Aramco’s SVP of Digital & Information Technology, noted that the program will connect pioneering startups with resources and market opportunities, fostering a globally impactful ecosystem.
Emphasis on IP Protection and Patents
DISA will focus on IP rights protection and patent strategy, with Qualcomm offering workshops and incentives for patent applications. The initiative builds on Qualcomm’s success with similar programs in Taiwan, India, Vietnam, and Africa.
