Palestinian VP, Tony Blair Discuss Gaza Administration in Ramallah

The Palestinian Authority’s Vice President Hussein Al-Sheikh met on Sunday with Tony Blair and a US government representative in Ramallah to discuss several Palestinian plans, according to Arab News.

The meeting addressed developments in the occupied West Bank, with a special focus on the requirements for securing self-determination and establishing Palestinian statehood.

Ramallah’s talks come after last week’s UN Security Council resolution, which calls for the deployment of an International Stabilization Force in Gaza and outlines plans for the reconstruction and governance of the territory.

The meeting brought together Maj. Gen. Majid Faraj, Head of the General Intelligence Service, the President’s Advisor for Diplomatic Affairs Majdi Al-Khaldi, and presidential spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeina.

During the discussions, Al-Sheikh acknowledged the ceasefire and humanitarian efforts of US President Donald Trump and mediators from Egypt, Qatar, Turkiye, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the UAE, Indonesia, Pakistan, and the EU.

Blair served as the Quartet’s special envoy to the Middle East from 2007 to 2015. He is expected to play a role in the administration of Gaza, that will oversee the territory’s funding and reconstruction efforts.
