Minister of Industry Discusses Strategic Cooperation with JOGMEC

During his official visit to Japan, Bandar bin Ibrahim Al-Khorayef, Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, met with officials from the Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation (JOGMEC), reported Saudi Press Agency. In the meeting, the minister discussed strategic cooperation with JOGMEC to provide mineral resource supplies to the Japanese industry.

Bandar bin Ibrahim Al-Khorayef, the Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, began an official visit to Japan.

His discussions with the officials focus on implementing “Saudi-Japanese Vision 2030” projects. They agreed upon the vision during the Crown Prince and Prime Minister’s visit to Japan in September 2016.

Saudi Arabia’s Potential

This discussion was framed in the context of Saudi Arabia’s vast mineral wealth, which includes dozens of vital minerals essential for many advanced industries. Saudi Arabia possesses all the competitive advantages to become a hub for mineral production.

The meeting also explored ways to leverage JOGMEC’s expertise in surveying, exploration, development, production, storage, recycling, and environmental protection. This expertise would be particularly valuable in conducting geological surveys in areas with potential mineral resources.

Furthermore, the Minister invited JOGMEC officials to participate in the third edition of the International Mining Conference. This event will take place from January 9 to 11, 2024, in Riyadh, the capital city of Saudi Arabia.
