Mawani Adds IMS Shipping Service to King Abdulaziz Port
The General Authority of Ports “Mawani” announced the addition of “VASI Shipping Pte Ltd” company’s new maritime shipping service (IMS) to King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam. This service links the Kingdom with Southeast Asia and India, strengthening the strategic partnership between the Kingdom and major global shipping lines, supporting the maritime sector, and national economic development.
Role of King Abdulaziz Port
This reaffirms King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam’s role in enhancing the maritime transport sector and logistical services. In addition, it supports export and import movements, in line with the national strategic targets for transportation and logistical services to establish the Kingdom as a global logistics hub and a nexus connecting three continents.
New Shipping Service
The new shipping service connects King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam with 5 regional and international ports including: Kelang in Malaysia, Surabaya, and Jakarta in Indonesia, Nhava Sheva in India, and Jebel Ali in the UAE, through regular weekly trips with a capacity of up to 1,800 standard containers.
Record Performance
King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam achieved a record monthly handling of 235,820 standard containers in February 2024. This reflects its comprehensive operational services and modern equipment, enabling it to handle various types of cargo. Moreover, with a capacity of 105 million tons of goods and containers. Finally, this demonstrates the port’s efficiency and capacity to meet growing demands in maritime trade. This strengthens its position as a key player in the global shipping network.
