Israel Blames Iran for Houthi Aggression

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz warned Iran on Tuesday that it will face severe consequences for any attacks by its Houthi allies. This follows a Houthi missile strike targeting Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion airport, which Israel countered by hitting Sanaa airport in Yemen. Katz accused Tehran of directing “octopus-like” proxy warfare, stating, “Iran’s leadership will bear full consequences for any assault on Israel.”

The Yemeni rebel group claimed responsibility for a drone strike targeting Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion Airport on Sunday. Israel intercepted the drones, avoiding casualties. In response, Israeli forces struck Houthi military sites in Sanaa, escalating cross-regional tensions. Analysts warn the conflict risks expanding into a wider regional war.

International Reactions

The U.S. condemned Houthi aggression, reaffirming support for Israel’s security. Meanwhile, Iran denied orchestrating the attacks, calling Israel’s strikes “reckless provocations.” Global leaders urged dialogue, with the UN warning of catastrophic consequences if hostilities spread. Yemen’s war has killed over 377,000 people, with 21 million requiring aid. Houthi attacks on Red Sea shipping and cross-border strikes have heightened fears of a broader Middle East conflict. Israel’s warning signals a potential shift toward direct confrontation with Iran, complicating regional diplomacy.

Regional observers anticipate intensified Israeli operations against Iranian-linked groups. Saudi Arabia may mediate to prevent spillover effects. As global powers scramble to contain tensions, Yemen’s humanitarian crisis risks worsening amid renewed fighting.
