(IMARC) starts in Riyadh with the participation of 60 countries and organization

International Mining and Resources Conference (IMARC) ‘s second round table conference of ministers concerned with mining affairs began earlier on Tuesday in Riyadh.

 

The round table is being organized in the city of Riyadh, during the period from 10 to 12 January 2023, under the patronage of King Salman.

The ministerial meeting, chaired by the Minister of Industry, Mr. Bandar Al-Khorayef, is witnessing a wide international and regional participation of some ministers and high-level officials from 60 countries, and the presence of representatives of 10 regional and international organizations.

The meeting will discuss pressing issues, including the development of the region, increasing its contribution to the value and supply chains for critical minerals, and promoting responsible and sustainable mining.

It also talks about increasing the value of the region’s mineral wealth by raising the level of transparency. In addition, it discusses developing the region to become an integrated center for the production of green minerals.

The meeting will argue for the development of international cooperation to establish centers of excellence in the region to increase their contribution to the supply of future minerals.

The list of countries participating in the meeting includes Ethiopia, Azerbaijan, Argentina, Jordan, Australia, Germany, the UAE, Angola, Indonesia, and other countries.

The number of participating countries exceeds 50.

More than 10 international organizations are also participating in the meeting, including the World Bank, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, and the International Union for Conservation of Nature.
