Details You Should Know about the recent aircraft deal between Saudi Arabia & “Boeing”
Saudi Arabia revealed a huge deal to buy 78 new “Boeing 787 Dreamliner” aircraft, which represents a great gain for the US company Boeing, as it is the fifth largest commercial order in terms of value in its history.
The White House welcomed the agreement, which it described as “important” between Saudi Arabia and Boeing, saying in a statement that it would support American jobs and represent a milestone in the cooperation between the Kingdom and the aircraft manufacturing sector in the US.
“Together, these deals will support more than 1 million US jobs in the aircraft supply chain in 44 states,” the White House said in a statement.
US Commerce Secretary Gina Raimundo called the deal “a clear victory for American manufacturers and workers.”
Saudi Arabian Airlines will buy 39 aircraft, with an option to purchase an additional 10 aircraft.
The new national carrier, Riyadh Air, will purchase 39 aircraft, with an option to purchase an additional 33 aircraft.
The aircraft order is the first for the “Riyadh Airlines” company, which Saudi Arabia announced its establishment last Sunday.
The deal is among the top five most valuable fleet orders for Boeing.
The purchase price of the confirmed 78 aircraft will reach about $37 billion, according to Reuters.
Aircraft deliveries are scheduled to begin in early 2025.
Riyadh Airlines is expected to add $20 billion to Saudi Arabia’s non-oil GDP growth.
The new Saudi carrier, wholly owned by the Public Investment Fund, will create more than 200,000 direct and indirect jobs.
The deal will support Saudi Arabia’s goal of serving 330 million passengers and attracting 100 million visits by 2030.
The new airline’s planes will serve more than 100 destinations worldwide by 2030.
In the US, the transaction is expected to support approximately 100,000 jobs directly and indirectly and more than 300 suppliers from 38 countries, including 145 small American businesses.
