As the competition reaches the semi-final stage this week, four teams are striving to achieve Saudi King’s Cup glory 2023/2024.
The first match, set to take place at Jeddah on Tuesday, sees Saudi Pro League leaders Al Hilal against Al Ittihad for the sixth time this season.
The second match sees Al Khaleej take on Al Nassr on Wednesday.
Al Hilal vs Al Ittihad
The two prominent teams have already met five times this season, in which Al Hilal has triumphed every competition, while Al Ittihad has not achieved any victory since April 2021.
During this stage of last season’s King’s Cup, Al Hilal won 1-0 in Jeddah with Ahmed Hegazi scoring the only goal in extra time.
Now Al Hilal will be missing two major strikers: Neymar, who is now undergoing a long recovery from an ACL injury, and Aleksandar Mitrovic, the club’s top scorer this season.
However, there is hope that the Serbian striker, who has scored three goals in three games in the King’s Cup, may return back before the end of May.
Although Al Hilal has shown itself as an unbeatable team in recent weeks, Al Ittihad passionately awaits to achieve progress and end this tide of negative results. Al Hilal has lost to Al Ain and was eliminated from the AFC Champions League at the semi-final stage, but it could restore confidence again after beating Al Ittihad in the Saudi Super Cup in April.
Al Nassr vs Al Khaleej
The two teams will be meeting on Wednesday, May 1st at Al-Awwal Stadium in Riyadh.
This will be the first time for Al Khaleej to reach a King’s Cup final thanks to the Portuguese coach Pedro Emmanuel.
Al Khaleej has picked up a 2-1 victory over Abha in the quarter-final of the competition in December.
Al-Nasr’s qualification to the semi-finals has witnessed two five-goal hauls. This is coupled with being six-time winners of the domestic cup.
Realizing this great progress, Al Khaleej will be aiming to score a major upset against Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr at the awaiting match.
