Officials confirmed that at least two people were injured last Sunday when a bomb exploded inside a Catholic church in the city of Beni in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Beni police chief Narcis Mutiba Kashali said the explosion occurred at 6 am, just an hour before starting a ceremony for the children’s confirmation at the church.
The mayor of the Potseli neighbourhood in the city, Kongo Synthes, announced that the injured in the accident were taken to the hospital. At the same time, the police launched an investigation into the accident.
Experts from the United Nations Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo confirmed that there is talk of a homemade bomb prepared for an ambush, according to RT.
